In a bit of self promotion, I’m happy to share that two of my photos placed in the Center for Railroad Photography and Art‘s 2012 photography contest. This is my fourth year participating the CRPA contest and I’m happy to place amongst such a talented group of photographers, especially considering the theme of this year’s contest – imagery influenced by legendary rail photographer Dick Steinheimer. Stein’s work graced many pages of TRAINS magazine over the years, and it’s hard to imagine how his work could NOT have influenced many of “us younger railfans”. Working mostly in the West, Dick loved to shoot in remote locales and in bad weather, or at night – elements that many contemporary photographers now also seek.
